The Longest Week Ever

Well, sometimes when I haven't posted in a while, I get a prompting email from some of you asking what's up. This time I thought I'd beat you all to the questions and fill you in on the week that I have been having.

Things had been going along just fine. Last week I posted for a new job with my company as a Regional Sales Manager. The interview process was exactly as I anticipated, a lot of those "So, tell me about a time when...." questions (when you were fabulous, when you screwed up, etc). Although I felt I aced the interviews (for the most part) the job was offered to someone who is already in the area ). The hiring manager did ask me to consider the next posting he would put out, this week, for a different area.

After discussions with Tom, we decided that this might be a better opportunity for us anyway, as he was not looking forward to moving to Orlando! I guess things all happen the way they are supposed to for a reason!

This week brought more work and a meeting and ride-along with a member of our business team from Texas. After the ride-along on Thursday night we did drinks and dinner. During dinner Tom called my cell phone a couple of times, somewhat unlike him to check up on me that quickly behind each other. I called him from the parking lot as I was leaving and told him I'd be home in a few minutes.

As soon as I walked in the door, Tom asked me to call my mom. Now, those of you who know me, know I talk to my mom about 100 times a week, so for her to have called home and told me to call her was odd. I immediately thought something was wrong, and my first thought was my 87 year-old grandmother, although she is not in the least bit ill. I dialed the phone as I begged Tom to tell me what was wrong, he started to tell me while my mom answered and here's what I was able to find out.

My cousin Susan's husband (Jeff-42) and their 7 year-old daughter (Christianna) were killed in a car accident on Wednesday night in Jacksonville. Their son (Keegan) who is 11 was also in the truck with them, along with Jeff's cousin. Jeff's cousin is still in the hospital with multiple injuries, Keegan is home and I'm not sure if it was the passenger or driver of the vehicle who caused the accident also passed away (16 year-old girl). The vehicle with the 16 year old ran a stop sign, hit a car and then both vehicles plowed into Jeff's truck. He was driving about 55 mph from what I understand. The pictures on the Jax news website are just awful (but if you want to see, here's the link: http://www.news4jax.com/news/10277643/detail.html)

So....this has not been a great weekend. The decision was made on Friday to have the services on Saturday afternoon and for my cousin, I don't blame her for wanting things to be done, but I'm very sad I wasn't able to get down there. I couldn't get the flights to work out for a reasonable price, then felt guilty that reasonable shouldn't be a factor, but it just didn't work. Hopefully I can arrange to be there at a different time and help her when things calm down a bit.

This just proves the point of how it's better if we are closer to home, when something unexpected happens, I'm just too far away.

Granted, my post is not fun this week, but that's sometimes the direction that life takes. Susan's family has an incredible faith and hopefully that will see them through this very difficult time. She has three other children (ages 16, 13 & 11) and this will definitely be a journey for them. Please keep the Spear family in your thoughts and prayers.

That's about all the news from here, waiting to see about the new job posting and see if that was meant to be. I should know this week, so I'll keep you all posted! It's time to be closer to my family! The house is officially up for sale and we'll see what happens, if ya wanna see http://www.isoldmyhouse.com/index/CT/119488.html there it is!

Until Next Time~All The Best~

How horrible that this had to happen to your family.

I will lift Susan and Keegan up in prayer. Please don't feel bad about not being able to go. There must be some other plan... God doesn't make mistakes - I'm sure he has other plans... and it'll be in His time.

Please let me know if there is anything we can do.
